Craft Along with GIY: Things with Wings
The theme for the September Craft Along with GIY is Things with Wings. All month, I've been sewing zipper bags and pocket pack tissue holders. I made one of each for myself in a purple bat print fabric.
A benefit of sewing your own zipper bag is that you can make it exactly the size you want. Mine is just large enough to hold the stuff I normally carry. It fits perfectly in my small purse along with the tissue holder and my wallet. :)
To share your Craft Along with GIY project:
1. Add the Craft Along with GIY icon to your blog post. Link the icon to this page:

2. Leave a comment with a link to your project. If you're not a blogger, you can link to your webpage, Instagram, or anywhere else readers can see it. (Please link directly to the project page.)
I will compile the links on the Craft Along with GIY page.

DeleteOkay this is probably a crazy question, but I have a sewing project that I’m not sure what to do with. It just occurred to me to ask you. I have a pile of good sheets, none matching, but still in excellent shape. I’m pretty sure I can dye them as well since they are natural fiber, but I have no idea what to do with them since they are all in sizes too small for any beds in the house (twin to full size). Do you have any ideas? Everything that I run across from online just assumes you have matching sheets for the projects, and I have the fitted or the flat but never both, which is why they’ve been put away. Any ideas would be wonderful!
DeleteSheets are great for projects that need wide widths of fabric. Here are a few random ideas:
Deletesofa or chair cover
protector for rear car seat (sometimes a fitted sheet can work well for this)
table cover (twin fitted sheets are great for picnic/outdoor folding tables because they don’t blow off)
curtain liner behind lace curtains
if sheets are white or beige, use behind color curtains to provide a uniform appearance from the outside
roll one or more sheets up tightly and tie with ribbons to make a draft stopper for doors or windows
add to a tank top to make a maxi dress
long circle skirt or pixie/pointy hem skirt, either by itself or under lace
nightgown (sheets are made to sleep on/in, right?) ;)
Wow the batty bags look amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
