The Daily Done: June 20-21

On June 20 and 21, I got lots of things done.

I loaded up all the to-be-donated items that I had pulled out of the basement. I did housework and lots of laundry. I did some ironing while watching a documentary on the intelligence of crows. June 21 was overcast, so I took advantage of the cloud cover to do some outdoor chores: washing the windows, mowing/hacking down some grass, spraying for bugs (damn earwigs!). I bought a new faucet for my new bathroom vanity.

Yes, my life really is THAT exciting and glamorous. Kardashians, smardashians! They're trying to keep up with ME!  ;)

Okay, so nothing I did was particularly fun. But I accomplished a lot, including buying some supplies for projects I'm looking forward to.

Feeling of accomplishment... Done!

  1. My life is as glamorous as mine! I do visit festivals, but otherwise I stay at home, sew, cook, clean and spend time with my boyfriend or friends. Who wants to live like the Kardashians? Me not!

    1. Me either! In fact, I could almost feel sorry for them. They all seem so desperate for attention and validation. It's kind of sad.

  2. Um, that faucet is amazing!

As Mindless writes, who wants to be those celebr-nothings. You, my dear, can DIY bathrooms... And in the zombie apocalypse I'm pretty sure you're going to survive much longer than most ;D

    1. Isn't it fun?! I can't wait to get it installed.

Ha ha... Indeed. I imagine zombies would go after those people first because their rarely-used brains would be tender and delicious. :D

  3. I've watched about five seconds of the Kardashian, I felt my brain melt into soup because of the mind draining claptrap, sadly, I will never get that time back. I would rather read real people's blog like yours, yay. Bane you are a celebrity amongst the blogging community and contributed far more to society one post than the entire celebrity tribe of a show will.

    1. Aw, thank you! I'm still amazed and humbled that people want to read about my life. But it's a great incentive to actually DO stuff so I have something to blog about. Which is good and healthy for me. Win win! :)

  4. I would rather have your life than a Kardashian's. Sure, the money would be nice, but I don't want their lives. We're in the middle of buying the house we live in (long story) and my evenings and weekends are spent juggling housework, home repairs and home-life. I come in to work on Mondays and while the other women in the office talk about the movies they saw, I get to brag about the fact that I got a free workout in by filling in the huge hole in my gravel driveway by hand. It isn't a glamorous life, but it is mine and I love it. I love hearing about yours too and it's been a serious inspiration to hear about the stuff that you can get done around your house. I "know" I can do it, but since I'm married I all too often try to sweet talk hubby into doing it. No more! I'm sure he appreciates all the extra work I've been putting in (I refinished our tub by myself!), but it's been an amazing thing to look around at my home and feel that immense pride, knowing that it looks that way because I built it/fixed it/painted it, etc.

    1. Yep. The only part of their lives I would want is the bank account.

Ha ha ha! That sounds familiar! My coworkers talk about their hiking trips and ski adventures... while I've spent my weekend grinding thinset off the bathroom floor.

I love the feeling of accomplishment that comes with DIY. Even if no one ever sees the project, I can feel proud knowing that I was creative, and I persevered, and I did it. :)

    1. I'm constantly fending off TV producers who want to create a reality show about my life. ;)

Oh, that idea is so absurd, it was hard to type it even as a joke. :D

  6. Ah, I spend a lot of my time boring grocery shopping!

    1. I hate grocery shopping. I don't really know why... it's not all that unpleasant, and it doesn't take long. But I always dread it.
