Even if your decision is a painful one, simply committing to that decision often sets you on the right course. It's an interesting phenomenon.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen."
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe said it like this: “At the moment of commitment, the entire universe conspires to assist you.”
The universe conspiring to help me?! Sweeeet!
With the decision made, my brain shifted into high gear. Neurons fired. My creativity awoke from hibernation and ideas began to sprout. I felt energized.
Suddenly enthusiastic, I jumped into my kitchen renovation. In my opinion, any home improvement project that begins with demolition is a good project. :D

The rebuilding is fun, too. :) I have so many ideas I want to implement! I got a good start during the Christmas holiday, and soon I'll have a little time away from work in which to concentrate on my home projects. I can't wait! :)
After a sluggish and stressful 2012, it feels great to begin 2013 with energy and optimism. Here's hoping 2013 will be a fantastic year!
Happy New Year!
(Wow... I have never used so many exclamation points in my life. Clearly I'm excited. :D )
Happy Year of the Goth (it really is. ask Adora Batbrat)
ReplyDeleteSound like your year will be one with positive changes, like it feels for me, or else I will make it happen. Happy New Year Bane <3
ReplyDeletePositive changes rock! Make them happen! And then blog about them so we can all share in the happiness. Sounds like a good plan to me. :)
DeleteOh yes, and so it begins (the kitchen renovations)! My ugly tiles are coming off the wall as we speak, due to shotty craftsmanship and a wet year... but either way - I am on my way :)
ReplyDeleteYay! Tiling seems to be one area where DIYers (and some "pros") really get things wrong. Lack of patience, I suppose.
DeleteHappy New Year, darling Bane! And here's to big, bold decisions! WAHOOOO!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Happy New Year to you, too! :)
DeleteI love your quotes - they're very reassuring. And I'm excited about your kitchen reno, too! I always enjoy living vicariously through other people's renovations ... ;o)
ReplyDeleteMe, too! Especially the renovations on DIY Network shows, where they take kitchens as heinous as mine and make them awesome. Of course, with a budget of $35,000 and a crew of 20, I could probably make just about anything awesome. ;)
DeleteOh, did you bail on the Furnace Office?
ReplyDeleteWell, they moved me from the Furnace Office to the Overheated Closet of Suffocation... but yes, I am bailing. Not sure if I'm leaving the company or just the position; talks will commence next week. Either way, I'll have some time off. Time away from the responsibilities of work! My heart leaps at the very thought! ;)
DeleteGlad the wheels are turning at work. I had definitely been dragging my feet about leaving my old job, but when I finally made the decision to follow through, it was like a landslide. It was a tough time for me, but I'm so glad I did it. I love the job I have now and I kick myself for staying at the old one for so long. I wish you luck in your endeavors, both in the kitchen and at work.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I will probably kick myself, too. I keep hanging on because I believe in the project (and because of good pay and outstanding benefits). But after 5 years, the company still feels like a start-up, and I can't handle the chaos any more. I need order in my life!
DeleteGood luck on everything this year! Taking your fate in your own hands is always a good move! Can't wait to see how the kitchen comes out!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your resolve, and your new-found DIY inspiration! Best of luck in whatever direction you go next. Happy 2013!!
