This month's homework assignment from The Professor is "Things I Can't Live Without." I've chosen a trio of things that I wouldn't want to be without.
Thing 1: Boots
I like the way boots look, but more importantly, they're the only footwear that don't make my feet hurt. My current collection consists of 4 pairs New Rocks, 2 pairs Dr. Martens, and 1 pair labeled "Zodiac" that are so old, I can't recall where I bought them.
Thing 2: Cinnamon toothpaste
Virtually all toothpaste is mint - spearmint, cool mint, fresh mint, lasting mint, ultra mega powerful mint; even the "unique" flavors are combined with mint - cinnamint, vanilla mint. Now, I like minty fresh breath as much as anyone. So why do I search high and low to find the lone option of cinnamon toothpaste? For the simple yet compelling reason that mint makes me sneeze. Sneezing with a mouth full of foamy toothpaste = BAD.
Thing 3: Ceramic flat iron
My hair is thick and coarse, with just enough wave to make it poufy and sloppy-looking. I hated my hair until I got a ceramic flat iron (straightening iron). It is a miracle device! It gets hot enough to smooth out even my horsetail hair without the damage of a metal iron. I would not wear my hair long without a ceramic flat iron. It turns this mess...
into hair I actually like.
My hair does the same thing. Yours is really pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYour hair is pretty either way, I actually like the messy state. Mine is naturally flat straight, wanna trade? :P
ReplyDeleteWe always want what we don't have, right? ;) I love the "messy" textured styles like Robert Smith's or the death hawk on other people, but I can't bring myself to wear them on my own head.
DeleteOoooo, you've got so much HAAAAAAIR. My thin sad little strands are super jealous.
ReplyDeleteI've always had an absurd amount of hair. In a photo taken at the hospital when I was one day old, I have a bow tied in my hair. :P
DeleteYour strands might be less jealous if they saw my conditioner bill. ;)
I feel your thick wavy hair pain, before i cut all mine off I was forced to straighten it after every wash. I got sick of that though and now it's super short.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that you can wear it short. When I tried the short hair route, I looked like a mushroom head. :P
DeleteMy hair is super dry, so I only have to wash (and straighten) it about every four days. I doubt I'd have the perseverance to do it daily.
WOW! Super jeally of your boot collection and your HAIR! wowza!
ReplyDeleteI have to wear big boots to balance out the weight of my hair, otherwise I might tip over. ;) It's funny, my seven pairs of boots likely cost more than all of my clothing and jewelry combined.
DeleteI love your hair! Mine is so fine and I'll be 50 before it ever reaches that length! The black/purple New Rocks are pretty kickass.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Hey, long-haired 50-year-olds rock! ;) The black & purple New Rocks are my favorites.
DeleteAww never heard about cinnamon toothpaste, sounds interesting, I'm not actually fond of the mint tastes in toothpaste. You have beautiful hair. I wish my hair was thicker.
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy how many permutations of mint toothpaste there are. A store might offer 50 types of toothpaste, and every single one is mint flavored. We don't need 50 types of mint; what we need is something other than mint!
DeleteThank you. :)
I love cinnamon toothpaste too! Have you tried the Toms of Maine? It really has a punch -- great for the morning! :) Ah boots! I second that motion and endorse it fully. WOW! That's a lot of hair!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating!
I have seen the Tom's of Maine but never bought it. I'll have to give it a try.
DeleteI'm not complaining about having thick hair, but I will say it's a challenge to get it all up off my neck when it's 100 degrees. I'm constantly breaking claw clips or ruining barrettes by jamming in too much hair. :P
Your hair is gorgeous! I am always so envious of thick gorgeous hair!
ReplyDeleteI second Toms toothpaste. They have other non-minty flavors like fennel and orange-mango!
Thank you! I am envious of ladies who look good in jackets, so I guess it balances out. :)
DeleteOooh, orange-mango sounds good! Must try that!
Your hair is gorgeous either way! As someone with relatively fine hair, I've always envied ladies with beautiful thick locks. And your boot collection is quite impressive. I love cinnamon toothpaste too, but I love anything cinnamon. What creative entries!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love anything cinnamon as well. (Cinnamon sweet rolls with icing! So tasty!) I also like to simmer cinnamon and cloves to fragrance the house. :)
DeleteLoving your boot collection! As for your hair... you have lovely hair!!! Mine is so curly :( My irons don't get hot enough to straighten in the first go... it has to be done twice, and even then, during the humidity it just goes curly again. I would love straight thick hair.
ReplyDeleteThank you! My hair frizzes in the humidity... it keeps getting bigger and bigger until I look like an escapee from an '80s hair metal band. ;)
DeleteI wonder if the ceramic f;lat iron damages the hair. Mine is thin and straight. But there are days they stand how ever they want. i would use it then :D
ReplyDeleteI don't notice damage to my hair, but it is naturally coarse anyway. Ceramic is a lot kinder than metal, though I suppose any iron could damage hair. It's recommended to use a low temperature for thin or fine hair, to reduce the damage.
DeleteIf only my hair did that mild fluffing when I don't do anything to it! XD
ReplyDeleteMy hair is thin, but because of Hispanic roots it curls and whirls every which way till it closely resembles Grand Mama from the Addams Family, even flat ironing doesn't completely work... not for long at least.
I want to try cinnamon toothpaste, it sounds exponentially better than minty which I am completely sick of.
Hey, Grandmama is pretty cool. ;) I especially liked Carol Kane as Grandmama -- she was awesome!
DeleteIt's fun to mix up toothpaste flavors. :)
Your hair is really pretty and so are you! I can finally put a face to your blog, too :3 Also, 4 New Rocks and 2 DMs? *dies of envy*
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks! Part of a face, anyway. ;)
