Recently, I posted about my plans to renovate my kitchen. This is a project I want to get started on as soon as possible. Why the rush? I believe my kitchen is de-evolving before my very eyes. It began as ugly. From there, it moved to dysfunctional. Now it's heading to the territory of just plain BROKEN. Kitchen rehab becomes a pressing issue when you have to put a bucket under the garbage disposal in order to run the dishwasher.

To more quickly build up the Kitchen Renovation Fund, I'll be limiting my spending over the next couple of months. I'll try to stick to projects for which I already have materials on hand. For example, I can start working my way through my fabric stash.
Sitting in the air conditioned house sewing sounds like an ideal way to spend this weekend. It's too hot to go outside.
Sounds like a good time indeed. A few of those fabrics are in my stash as well. :D
ReplyDeleteI always knew you had good taste. ;)
Deletedo you buy your material just because you found one you like or do you buy it when you have a specific purpose in mind already and if you just buy just because is there a acertain yardage you get
ReplyDeleteSometimes I have a specific project in mind, but usually I buy fabric because I like it and the price is good. For example, I might buy three different cottons when they go on sale 40% off. I typically buy 3 or 4 yards. This is not the most efficient way to buy fabric, and I end up with a lot of scraps. But, on the other hand, I enjoy coming up with projects to use my scraps. :)
DeleteOMG I'm so coveting your fabric stash!
ReplyDeleteI hope you can get started on your renovation soon.
Thanks! Even a low-end kitchen remodel isn't cheap, so I have to make sure my bank account can take the hit. Hopefully nothing else will break in the meantime!
DeleteHey lovely, I've tagged you for the Liebster Award on my blog <3
ReplyDeleteRenovation, I think, is really the best thing to do for your kitchen. You could hire a designer to help you plan and design your kitchen, even with the short timeline. Their ideas are of great help, not only in the design, but also in considering the construction materials, mechanical, plumbing and electrical aspects of the area. Good luck!

That spider web skirt is bad ass.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be best to ask around, or to ask help from people who’ve already had their kitchen renovated. From there, you could have a clear estimate on your budget, and you would be able to plan accordingly.
