- Find the wall studs.
- Using wood screws and making sure to drive the screws into the studs, hang two horizontal strips of wood on the wall. Space them so one will be near the top of your pegboard and the other near the bottom. I used 1" x 2" strips about 3' apart for my 4' board. If you have a large pegboard or you plan to hang heavy things on it, you may want to add more horizontal and/or vertical strips of wood.
- Using wood screws with heads larger than the pegboard holes, attach the pegboard to the wood strips.

Spray paint works well for pegboards. A roller with latex paint will also work if you load the roller lightly and use very little pressure so that paint doesn't drip through the holes. I used a spray primer and then gently rolled on purple latex paint for a nice, even finish.
My tools and supplies now have a purple home near the ponies' new lilac abode. :)
Anyone else using pegboard in your home?
So clever! No I dont have a pegboard in my home but it looks very practical. I have my tools in a plastic bag and get's very annoyed when I see my tools borrowed somewhere. I think a box with a lock is what i need. I loved your pony shelf. I've had also bought it inspite of the price, it turned out beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt is very annoying when tools are borrowed and not returned. You should treat yourself to a nice tool box, maybe one thrifted and decorated. And then add a lock. ;)
DeleteA whole room for crafty projects, I love the idea! And the ponies are like a support group behind you, cute. ^^
ReplyDeleteI keep my "things" in ugly paper boxes under my table, and drawers.
I also have a tiny ugly chest of drawers, wich just needs something and earrings that need a proper storing place, so thank you for the inspiration!
It's a very small room (I was standing in the closet when I took the photo) but it's nice to have a dedicated space. If I have multiple projects in the works, I can leave them out without cluttering up the main living area.
DeleteI have a post coming up about turning ugly boxes into decent storage. :)
Ohh, thank you! That will definitely help!

awesome, would like to copycat something like this with hooks for my necklaces if you dont mind ^^?
ReplyDeleteNecklaces on hooks is a great idea. It's nice to have them out and visible instead of hidden away. I have mine hanging on pins (on the display Goth Mary Poppins mentions in her comment above).
DeleteI'm using a pegboard in my garage. It was installed by my grandfather, probably before I was born. It is delightfully grotty looking. I'm not attempting to make it pretty- I like the dishevelled look.
ReplyDeleteIt's a well-loved classic. :)
DeleteI nominated you for this award :)

Thank you so much! :D
DeleteMr. Kitty has a pegboard for tools in the garage, but his isn't nearly as fashionable as yours. It's just plain, Pegboard Brown. :) Which is somewhat surprising, considering his enthusiasm was at least equal to mine as we decided to paint most of our interior various shades of purple, and he insisted on painting his office eggplant...
ReplyDeleteI have Pegboard Brown in my garage as well. For now, anyway... ;) A man who likes purple? A keeper.
